CHICAGO (February 20, 2008) - DIFFA/Chicago (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS/Chicago) proudly awarded 27 local organizations $200,000 in unrestricted Grants.  All demonstrated extraordinary effectiveness in their chosen missions in the HIV/AIDS arena.

Inscape hosted the ceremony in their showroom at the Merchandise Mart.  They along with corporate sponsors:  Herman Miller, Knoll, Desks, Inc., Corporate Concepts, Henrickson, and Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. were invited to participate in distributing the unrestricted funds to the community based organizations.  These Grant recipients serve men, women, and children affected by AIDS and HIV related illnesses.

The Excellence in Care granting process includes agency reviews, site visits and staff interviews in the following categories:  advocacy and education, health and clinical services, housing support and counseling, meals and nutrition.   Previous grantees have used their grants to support startup or new emerging programs in local neighborhoods.  DIFFA/Chicago program has distributed over $2.5 million dollars since 1987.

DIFFA, founded in 1984, has been a leader in mobilizing the vast resources of the design community to provide over $ 35 million to hundreds of AIDS organizations through 15 chapters nationwide.
